You cannot save people, you can only love them

Aspen,
My cries instantly slowed when I heard Peter's voice. It instantly soothed me. I took the blanket off of my head, looking over at him. "Yes," I managed to choke out, wiping my tears. I hated him seeing me when I was at my weakest.

[lauren.]

Peter.
I grabbed a tissue from the coffee table and handed it to her. "I shouldn't have blown up like I did last night. But with an alcoholic, you can't just throw everything out,"I said sitting down in a chair across from the couch. It was nice to sit on something with cushion.

[haileyjordan]

Aspen,
I sat up, wiping my eyes as I looked over at him. "I was just frustrated, I didn't think it over. It becomes overwhelming, I just wanted it all gone." I said, looking down at my lap. "I'm sorry for punching you." I added quietly. I wiped my eye, catching a stray tear that fell.

[lauren.]

Peter.
I touched my eye slightly,"You sure do pack a punch,"I said chuckling quietly. "I get that you're frustrated, as well as I am,"I said shrugging. "But from the beginning, I told you this wasn't going to be easy,"I said sighing as I sat back in the chair.

[haileyjordan]

Aspen,
I bit my lip, "I never realized how drastic it would be. Peter, it scares me. If we keep doing this one of us is going to completely break down. I was on the verge last night. But now that both of the things we're addicted to are gone, I fear that we'll be at each other constantly." I looked down at my shaky hands, already craving a cigarette.

[lauren.]

Peter.
I swallowed,"Then, I'm willing to leave so we can both get better at this. I don't want to but I don't want to hurt you anymore,"I said closing my eyes. I could tell she was anxious and so was I.

[haileyjordan]

Aspen,
My eyes widened slightly. "Leave? Peter I never said anything about anyone leaving." I said quickly. I don't know what I'd do if he left me. I'd go insane. I could see the seriousness in his face which scared me to death.

[lauren.]

Peter.
"You didn't have to say anything about leaving. It's been hanging in the air. I don't want to constantly have you pushed up against a wall or walking around on egg shells. Maybe I need to go to a rehab or something,"I said looking over at her. I could see her panic at the thought of me leaving.

[haileyjordan]

Aspen,
"Peter no. I never said anything like that, I never thought of anything like that. You can't just leave." I said, swallowing. I felt my throat become dry at the thought. He couldn't do this to me.

[lauren.]

Peter.
I got up and knelt down in front of her,"Aspen,"I said taking her hands in mine. "I'm still going to be around. Calm down, please. I'm still going to be with you, but we both need to get our heads on straight,"I said looking up at her. She looked frightened.

[haileyjordan]

Aspen,
I looked at him, "But when you're gone, I'll be alone." I said quietly. He was right, we both needed to get our acts together, but I didn't know how well I would do by myself. Even through all the pain, I still couldn't imagine my life without him.

[lauren.]

Peter.
"You won't be the only one alone, baby,"I said quietly. I took a seat beside her,"We'll fix this but as we said before we both have to be willing,"I said rubbing her arm gently.

[haileyjordan]

Aspen,
I looked down, trying to think everything through. He needed help-he needed rehab, but I just didn't want him to go. "I'm scared," I admitted. I was scared that while he was gone I'd start up again, and this would happen all over. I was scared that he'd never come back. I was just plain scared.

[lauren.]

Peter.
"Hell, I'm scared also,"I said as I wrapped my arms around her,"But we both know I need help,"I said. "Don't think too much into it right now. It's just an option we have,"I said softly.

[haileyjordan]

Aspen,
I leaned into his chest, my muscles instantly relaxing. "I'm tired of fighting. I just want it to stop." I whispered. "But I don't know what to do. My hands are shaking because I need a cigarette Peter." I knew it was only going to get worse.
