Name: Grace Collins
Age: Nineteen.
Powers: Pyrokenesis; basically conjuring and controlling fire.
Appearance: Short, long dark brown hair usually braided in some
fashion, wide blue eyes, straight button nose and a small mouth, quite
freckly and pale with an average physique.
Any background information: Left her home after she discovered
her powers age 15. Travelled around for a while before eventually hearing
about this safe house and going there to be trained in order to end the war. She
only had a mother who was a drunk, and so she doesn't really miss her home
or family too much.
Personality: Grace is quite a cheery, bright person but she has a
sharp wit and enjoys using sarcasm. She's rarely ever sad as she believes being
sad only makes a situation worse and being happy can only make it better.
She can also be something of a doormat and likes to help other people, so they
usually take advantage of her. As a result she can get quite stressed.
Other: Naaaaaah.



Name: Alec
Age: Twenty-two.
Powers: None
Appearance: Tall, short sandy blonde hair and dark brown eyes,
straight nose and a wide mouth. Quite muscular and strong, clear tanned
skin and a more athletic physique.
Any background information: Alec left his last name behind with
his family and refuses to tell anyone what it is, and will almost always leave
the room when the subject of family is brought up. Nobody really knows
what happened with him and his family but it obviously can't be good. There
is the name Marie tattooed on his back which people speculate to be a sister
or mother or even maybe a wife or daughter, but nobody has dared ask him about it.
Personality: Alec is kind of quite and seems pretty cold, but only because
he's kind of terrible at speaking to people and opening up to them. Because
of this people mistake him for cruel cold and calculating rather than quiet,
sweet and thoughtful. But don't be fooled; he has both sides to him and
nobody's really sure which is which.

Lauren's


Name: Richard Parks
Age: Twenty-4
Powers : Telekinesis & Super Strength
Appearance:

Any background information: Comes from a rich family who are all involved
with the war going on. His father is one of the major captains and his mother
along side him. They have no idea he has skipped out on this war by travelling
around. Rich heard about the safe house as a way to get out of the war and not
have to deal with it. Boy, was he wrong.
Personality: Richard is hot-headed and gets easily angered most of
the time. He can have a sweet side if he'll let someone get close to him.



Name: Dawnielle Greshian
Age: Twenty
Powers: None
Appearance:

Any background information: All of Dawn's family was killed by nuclear bombs.
Choppers flew over her town while she was away killing everyone. She
fled with despise of the war and found the safe house. She was taught karate
by her father before he died to help her if the time came.
Personality: Dawn is a some-what quiet girl. She likes to take her anger out
by punching things. Her best quality is that she listens and studies everything
to make sure it's the right move.

Name: Tess Elaine Martell
Age: 16
Powers (if any): None.
Appearance:
Tess is very small in almost every respect: she's short, her stature
is nearly miniature, and her limbs are thin and fraile-looking.

Any background information: Tess grew up with two older brothers
and her mother; when she was ten, her mother was killed in a bombing
while she and her brothers were at school, and they were left on their own.
Her eldest brother raised his younger siblings. When Tess was fourteen,
both of her brothers were taken away from her, drafted into the military
to fight in the war. Since then, Tess has been lost and wandering
from town to town, because she couldn't bear to live in their small family
home on her own. She finally found the Shelter about two weeks before
what she figured to be her sixteenth birthday, and while she doesn't feel
like she necessarily fits in there, it's at least someplace where she can be
alone every once in a while and calls it, though only in the loosest sense, home.
Personality: Tess speaks her mind as soon as she has a thought,
and she doesn't care if it offends someone. She's blatantly honest,
and there's not a thing in the world she hates more than a liar. While she
has a very intimidating and off-putting exterior at first, once someone
gets to know Tess, she's actually pretty awesome. She's funny, in
her own blunt, anti-joke sort of way, and she's at least entertaining.
She's really just somebody who's never had the proper amount of love in
her life and she doesn't know how to react to it.

Name: Elijah London McNeil
Age: Twenty-one.
Powers: He can move water with his mind, and wind with
his water, and he can fly above everybody and create huge,
destructive cyclones.
Appearance:

Any background information: Before the war, Elijah was nothing but
positively average -- at least, that's what he seemed. He discovered his
powers at an extremely early age: four. he secretly honed them in puddles
and small currents on holidays when they went to the beach, until finally he
realized that he'd become quite powerful. Elijah became restless with his
mediocre life. He became tired and annoyed and constantly irritated. His
abilities were being wasted as he sat doing nothing on his computer all
day. Just when he felt he was going to bust with built-up frustration, a
bomb fell on the hospital in his town where his father worked as an oncologist.
Elijah saw this for the opportunity it was -- while still grieving for his dead father,
he fled his town and his mother's home, and looked for a place where he could
be appreciated for what and who he was. He found the shelter eight
months later, by complete accident. He hasn't looked back once.
Personality: In the kindest sense, Elijah is a bit of a nerd. But, at least
he's an endearing nerd. He also goes into an odd sort of power high
after he starts off a cyclone; to put it lightly, he relishes power. Don't mistake
him for a villainous, power-hungry tyrant. He's actually, for the most part,
very laid back and prefers others to take on responsibility. He just likes to
be Top Dog every once in a while.

It was raining outside; I didn't even have to look, I could tell by the rhythmic clatter of raindrops on glass. I didn't mind the rain. It gave me an excuse to sit and read or play video games all day since my powers were never as effective when it was raining. It was a break day anyway so I had no training to make excuses to get out of. In any case, after I got showered and dressed I went downstairs to the communal living room, picked up my book from the night before and began reading. There was nobody else around yet but that wouldn't last very long. Soon enough everyone would be awake and the whole house would be noisy and loud and basically chaotic because the rain would force us to be stuck inside all day.

Alec
Making pancakes was a speciality of mine, and as such I had decided to make some for my breakfast. I had breakfast at 8am sharp on break days, 7am on training days. sticking to strict schedules was another speciality. After my pancakes were made I sat down at the large table in the kitchen that was usually used as extra space for preparing food and flicked on the little tv to watch the news. Always good to know what was going on. Not that I didn't already know. All there ever had been in the news recently was more bombings and no status changes of the war. Which worried me. A lot. When things didn't change for a while it usually meant someone was planning a huge shakeup. I'd been kind of paranoid about it all so I kept encouraging people to train more, as much as they could. In my opinion break days were a waste of time but people would often get overworked and would be out of action for days if we pushed them too hard for too long. Not the best defense and attack team but they were improving, at least.

I was trying so very hard to sleep, but I couldn't, thanks to the unGodly downpour outside interrupting my efforts. I groaned and buried my face even deeper into my pillows, completely submerging my body into the bedding, but I still couldn't drift off. I shot my hand out from under the comforter, and clenched it into a fist. The raindrops that had been pounding on my window seconds before suddenly froze, while the others around them continued to fall. I then forcefully unclenched my hand, and smiled in satisfaction as I heard the raindrops hurtle away from the building. no more drops hit my window, and I smiled again, before successfully falling back asleep.

I was still very uneasy in this place. Everything was new, shiny, clean, meticulous. Everything had its place. Everything had to be put up after every single use. Everything had to be regularly cleaned. Everything had to be just...so. I had to admit that these qualities held some appeal to me -- the order, the stability, the routines, the food. On my own, I might have been lucky to have food once every other day, but here there was plenty of food to go around. I was still tiny, like I'd always been, but at least I wasn't starving anymore. I tiptoed to the kitchen now, having that early-morning sort of hungry when all I wanted to eat was some eggs and toast and chocolate milk. My mother had always made that for my brothers and I on Saturday mornings. And here I was, on a Saturday morning two weeks after arriving in this odd little shelter, and all I wanted was my Mother's breakfast. I moved stealthily to the fridge, getting out the carton of eggs on the bottom shelf and the butter in the Crisper, juggled that with the gallon of milk and chocolate syrup, and placed it all on the counter. I also got a frying pan from beneath the stove.

I yawned as I pulled my hair up into a messy bun, fixing my wavy bangs. I sighed and stared out the window as the rain came down. It looked like it wouldn't stop, ever. But then again, that's just me over-exaggerating. I pulled on some sweats and fixed my tank top, heading out of my room. I haven't been here long but I didn't care what I looked like around people. They could suck it for all I cared.

Richard;
I was in the living room area, staring out at the window. I wasn't much of an inside person. I always like being outside. Though I felt as if I glared to a certain point out the window that maybe it'd stop. I ran a hand through my hair, pursing my lips. Where was this Elijah dude? Couldn't he control water?

I was reading slowly today; maybe it was because the rain was coming down harder than usual and that was the sound I was focusing on instead of the words on the page. I had to re-read pages at least twice, which wasn't like me at all. I came to the conclusion that I was just feeling a bit strange because I hadn't slept all that well that night before and I'd been feeling kind of unwell and everything was just thrown out of whack. Yep, that was why I felt so uneasy.

Alec
I watched out of the corner of my eye as the kid who'd arrived about a week or so ago came into the kitchen and started cooking. Whatever she was making it definitely wasn't going to help her keep in shape. Oh well, i could just assign her extra laps next training day. Barely any of the people at the house took this whole war thing seriously. They were mostly under the impression this is where they could just go to a be safe and have nothing to do with the war. But most of them were the ones capable of stopping the war, with the right training. Not that they listening to him. Stupid kids.

I got one egg out of the carton, and then got a small glassful of water after beating the egg in a small bowl. I settled the pan on the stove and turned it on high, pouring in a few inches of the water. I watched as it sizzled, then finally started to bubble, then poured the scrambled egg into it. Poached eggs were so much healthier for you, besides the fact that they tasted a lot better, too. I'd already put the toast in the toaster, on the highest setting. I kind of liked almost-burned toast. I dunno why.

Dawnielle;
I could smell someone making breakfast but I highly doubt they would share. I crossed my arms as I peeked into the kitchen, seeing that small girl and the some-what scary guy. I slipped out and headed outside onto the porch.

Richard;
I heard the door open and saw Dawn slip outside. I raised an eyebrow but my curiosity was cured when she just sat outside. I huffed and went into the kitchen, even though I've already ate. "How's everyone?"I asked, leaning against the doorway.

I didn't answer the guy who came into the kitchen, I just carried on eating my pancakes and focusing on the news. There hadn't been any bombings or army movements lately so people were taking this as an opportunity to move around outside and find other places to be. Smart, really. But then there were people running around trying to rebuild houses and towns and they didn't realise it wouldn't do them any good because as soon as they were built up they'd just be bombed down again and most of the people would die. These days it was just safer to find a safe place to stay for the long term. Nuclear wars, from what I can gather don't tend to just stop out of nowhere. There's never any use thinking that you're safe until the entire thing has been declared over, officially. Until then you have to think that you're in danger all the time. But apparently these people on the news scurrying around trying to build houses had suffered serious brain damage in whatever accidents caused them to lose their homes.

I loaded all of my food onto a plate, realizing how small the portion looked compared to the servings I got at mass meals. I sat at the table with the...not bad-looking older guy, barely sparing a glance at the guy who'd just joined us. I picked at my food. I was so glad I'd gotten here for the food, but I still hadn't gotten to the point where I ate very much.

I rolled my eyes and pushed away from the doorway,"Jerks,"I muttered as I went back into the living room.

"Who's a jerk?" I asked absent-mindedly, glancing up to see who just came into the living room and then turning the page in my book. I had a kind of selective hearing thing going on when I was reading.

Alec
I glanced at the girl as she sat down. Young, small and skinny. Not exactly the ideal soldier. On another day I would have said something to her about having something else for breakfast and maybe working out more, but I could hardly say anything with the almost empty plate on pancakes in front of me and it was an off day anyway. She'd only been here about a week or so, from what I'd seen of her around the house. Leave her to get comfortable and then she'd realise just exactly what living here entailed on the next training day.

I kept looking warily at the other guy at the table, nervous for some reason. He was cute -- like, really cute, dude -- but he also looked really mean. I was feeling oddly mixed...things towards him. I tried my hardest to push away the confusing medley of emotions, focus on finishing my breakfast, then get the hell out of there.

I looked over to see one of the girls reading. I wracked my brain for her name but forgot. I cleared my throat as I shrugged,"The people in the kitchen,"I said glancing out the window.

I sat on the porch staring out as the rain fell, more like poured. I yawned and stretched my back out. I sort of wanted to go out in it, but that would mean I'd have to take a shower again... & I'm too lazy.

I glanced up again. "Well that narrows it down," I said, rolling my eyes at the guy. I think his name was Richard or something. I'd seen him around before, anyway, but I never really socialised with anyone except Eli so I barely knew everyone's names.

Alec
I noticed the girl kept looking at me. Like, a lot. She just kept glancing at me and giving me these weird looks, like she was confused and scared or something. What, did I have a pancake monster face or something? It was kind of starting to annoy me. "What are you looking at?" I said, using my best scary voice and being intimidating in general.

My face flushed when he spoke to me, but I held my chin up a tad higher and said, "You, obviously. You have syrup on your face." And he did. I just noticed it in time to use it as my excuse, before I stood up, my eyebrow raised, put my dishes in the dishwasher, and left the room. Ugh, I just humiliated myself. Hu-mil-i-at-ed. Ugggggh.
