When she was in eighth grade, Sydney met a boy named Mitch on an anonymous chatting site called Spingle. That night, they spoke for over four hours -- effectively making both of them sleep in and late for school the next morning. They added each other of every social networking site available, and continued their constant contact for the next five years.

But now it's time for them both to graduate, and they're antsy to meet each other. So Mitch and Sydney set up plans to road trip with their respective best friends -- Jacob and Taylor -- to neutral territory, Jefferson City, Missouri.

It was Sydney's friend Taylor who suggested they take a prolonged road trip -- all the way around the country. So this is where we meet our four friends -- travelling and nearly to the meeting point, where five years of constant contact and close friendship have harbored feelings neither can entirely, properly decipher until in the other's presence.

I was sitting beside Jacob as he drove, because apparently he didn't trust me to drive myself. I sighed and looked out the window. "Are we almost to Jefferson?" I asked anxiously.

Taylor
I hummed as I drove. I almost wished I trusted Syd with my baby, my '69 hippie-tastic van my parents had bought for me the week after I'd gotten my license. I didn't feel like driving, but Sydney's driving was shit. Besides, she was gittery enough because she was about to meet her boyyyyyfrienddddd.

Jacob,
I glanced over at Mitch, "About thirty to forty more minutes, then you can drool all you want," I told him with a grin. I loved teasing him about her, he was easy to tease.

Sydney,
I rested my cheek on my hand as I stared ahead of us. I grew anxious in cars; especially this trip. "I can't sit here any longer!" I complained as I moved the seatbelt away from my neck.

I groaned and rolled my eyes, slumping in my seat. "Seriously? how big can this freaking country be?!"

Taylor
I looked at her and sighed. "We passed a sign a few minutes ago saying a gas station was coming up soon. Want to stop there?"

Jacob,
"You'd be surprised," I said with a smirk,
"besides, it's only taking what seems like
forever because you have somewhere you
want to be in a hurry."

Syndey,
"Please!" I exclaimed. "I think my whole
ass is numb." You could say I complained
a lot, but it didn't seem to phase me.

Taylor
I burst out laughing, but I pulled into the service station's lot anyway. "We're, like, twenty five minutes away so I think we have some time to spare -- but, you know, not a lot," I admonish, giving her the sort of Taylor's-your-mama-bear look I always gave her.

Mitch
I, for lack of a better word, simply pouted and crossed my arms over my chest, staring vehemently out the window.

Jacob,
I glanced over at him a few times and
just smirked. He always got upset when
something wasn't working out how he
wanted it. "We're almost there, stop
pouting dude," I told him.

Syndey,
I jumped out of the car as I stretched
letting out a loud groan. "Freedom!" I yelled
as I scratched my head before I went into the
little store to buy some junk to wire myself up.

I sighed and locked up the van, following Syd into the store. I really, really wanted a Monster.

Mitch
I rolled my eyes and looked back out the windshield. "Can't we just...speed or something?" I asked him, making a face.

Jacob,
"Well, if you'd like me to get
a ticket which will make us go
even slower, then sure!" I said
sarcastically. "You need to chill,
we're almost there."

Syndey,
I grabbed and Arizona, a bag of chips,
and a pack of gum as I paid for them
all, instantly drinking half of the drink.

I picked up an original green Monster, a pack of powdered Donut Gems, and paid for that with a pack of peppermint gum. I was running kind of low. I met Sydney back at the van. "C'mon, don't you want to see your boyyyyyyyfriend?"

Mitch
I sighed again and rolled my eyes. "How much longer, again?"

Jacob,
"We're running on twenty minutes.
Can you handle that?" I asked him
with a smirk.

Sydney,
I rolled my eyes, "Stop exaggerating,"
I said as I got back into the car, buckling
myself in. He wasn't technically my boyfriend
yet.

"Exaggerating?" I scoffed, rolling my eyes at her. "You've been talking to him for like, five years, Syd."

Mitch
I glared at him before deciding to turn my glower on the vegetation passing us by outside. "It's fine," I grumbled.
