The streets were dark, much darker than in the early hours of the night or the minutes before dawn. Shannon looked both ways before crossing the street -- just like Mommy'd always told her. A wry smirk came to her face at that little joke, and she tightened her coat around her body, bringing her grocery bags closer to her side. She bent her head down against the chilling night wind, hurried to get home to Lyla.

Lyla was laying on one of the only beds in the apartment. Her hair was spread around her and she looked almost like a child. Her arm lay on her stomach, eyes under her lids flickering back and forth. She had been getting hungry while asleep. Shed need to eat, and soon.
Darius watched the girl cross the street, the long black leather coat flying in the wind. He sighed, nodding and walking off to his captue team. They'd do it tonight.

Shannon quickened her pace, turning corners in an automatic sort of way. She knew the way back well. She saw the familiar faded brick building looming in front of her, and she let out a short sigh of relief. I hurried inside and walked past the sleeping guard, straight to the stairwell. Five flights up; it was easy for Shannon, who'd tried her best to keep her body in shape over the last six months.

"Alright. It has to be done tonight." Darius said to his crew. "Spread out. Don't engage unless I'm there." He started to the building.
Lyla slowly awoke. Her body gave a sigh as she slowly sat up and looked around for Shay. She frowned when she didn't see her.

Shannon arrived at her and Lyla's door, quickly fishing the key from her pocket and unlocking it. "Lyles?" she called out softly, looking into their bedroom. Lyla seemed to be just waking up. she'd been asleep when Shannon left. "I think we have to leave soon. I saw some, I dunno, suspicious guys out there earlier. They gave me the creeps."

Lyla frowned. "We just got here last week and I'm hungry.." She'd been hungry a lot more, with Shay leaving more, her being her only food source. It was against Moroi law to feed from pure humans, unless supervised. She watched her, looking at her. "What guys?"

Shannon shrugged and said. "I don't know, but there were some just kind of, shifty guys at the store. They kind of hung around the back." I dropped the supplies we'd needed earlier on the floor gently, going to the window and inconspicuously peering through the curtain. "I really have a bad, bad feeling.

Lyla noddded and continued to sit on the bed. She rubbed her head, starting to get a headache and light headed. "Shay. I'm hungry.. please.."
Darius looked up at the window, looking directly at Shay, though he was conceled by the trees.

Shannon looked at Lyla, frowning. She sat beside her best friend, sliding her shirt down her shoulder and moving her hair to her other shoulder. "Lyles, just do it." She knew her friend had issues with drinking from her.

Lyla looked at her. She bit into her shoulder, and did it quickly, drinkin enough to be satisfied. She then pulled away and laid back down. "What guys..? When should we leave then."

Shannon sighed and brushed the hair from her friend's face. "They just looked like some of the Academy's guards. Get some rest. I'll get everything packed and we can leave first thing in the morning."

"Only cause you're my guard.." Lyla mumbled, her eyes closing. She had left with Shay, not wanting to be without her at the academy.
Darius looked at the room. He pointed to one of his men and the window, telling him to make them leave the room.
