Kimberly I nodded and took some of the candles from Calloway, placing them in bunches at strategic points throughout the room. "Good idea."
James I sat on the old, dusty couch on the far side of the room, rubbing my eyes. I was beat. "We might be able to stay here a week, maybe even two."

Jez I leaned against the wall next to the door of the livingroom, folding my arms. "So what do we do now? Just wait?"
Cal I shrugged, sitting down on one of the two small sofas in the room. "I guess so. Not much more we can do. We have supplies and everything so there's no point in leaving and risking anything."

Kimberly "If this place is safe...we might be able to stay here for a while, really," I said, hoping for the best. "I mean, we're near a large city with a ton of stores where we can get supplies. We're isolated in this house, and it would take either some very determined zombies or smart coherents to find us. I think we should stay here until it's absolutely necessary to leave," I suggested, nodding matter-of-factly.
James I yawned loudly, stretching my arms above my head. "Kids, it's late. I'm tired. We need to get...sleeping arrangements or something," I said, eyeing the bedrooms down the hallway and the stairs that led to the second floor.

Jez "We should stay together for a while," I said, sliding my back down the wall till I was sat on the floor. "We're assuming the zombies are stupid enough not to find us, but we assumed before that they were a lot slower and they werent. For a couple of nights at least, we should sleep in here. Just to be safe." I knew the house was relatively safe for now but I couldn't shake this nagging feeling of something being off about the place.
Cal I nodded slowly. Jez made sense, I suppose. Considering the zombies had been a lot faster than anticipated, we couldn't really be sure of anything else about them other than they definitely wanted to eat us.

Kimberly "In the living room, then. Easiest exit access. Plus, all of our supplies are here." I sighed and stood up, crossing to the corner of the room our blankets and food had been stacked in. I picked up four blankets and four MREs. "We should eat now, before it gets too late. We can do watch shifts, too. I'll go first."
James I yawned and stretched. "Sorry, kids, but I'm going to sleep. I drove all day." I looked between Jez and Cal, though, and frowned. "Somebody should stay up with you, Kim. Extra security and all that, ya know?" Her eyes widened and she shook her head in disagreement, but I waved her off. "So who'll be it? Jez? Cal?"

Cal "I will," I nodded. "I don't really sleep anyway." Apparently I'm not weird enough with just my strange mental issues. Some insomnia had to be thrown in there too. My medication was supposed to help with the insomnia, too, but it didn't really do much.
Jez I was kind of glad Calloway was going to be staying up. I thought that since I had slept in the jeep for a bit, I would end up staying up. I wouldn't have minded, but for one, me and Kim didn't really get on, and I was still very tired. Because I'd been alone until I'd found this group, I hadn't really slept much because I always had to watch my own back, so sleep was quite high on my priority list because I was pretty sure I was going to stop properly functioning soon.

Kimberly I awkward fumbled with the blankets and MREs, putting the meals in the middle of the room and handing most of the blankets to James and Jez, so they could make beds for themselves to sleep. I handed a blanket to Calloway, too, and laid one for myself just beside the couch that James had just claimed for his own, even though I was there for the reason it was beside the front door, not because of James. He was now snoring gently in my ear. I sighed and turned around, turning his face in the other direction so I didn't have to hear it.

Jez I settled down on the other couch, using one of the blankets as a pillow folded up and pulling the other around myself. It was kind of comfy really, but maybe that was because I had spent the last few months sleeping on the ground. Sleep was calling me so I closed my eyes and let my mind drift, and it wasn't long before I fell into a much-needed deep sleep.
Cal I took my blanket and folded it up, putting it on the floor on the side of Kim furthest from James, sitting on it like a cushion. I probably wouldn't sleep so it wasn't like I had to make myself a bed, and if I did end up sleeping I am particularly good at falling asleep in strange, uncomfortable positions. After a minute or so the only sounds I could hear were James and Jez snoring softly. It was kind of weird without any other background noises. No cars or tv or radio, no other people or planes overhead. Just us in this house with no living people for who knows how many miles around and undead zombies walking around at their leisure. It's the kind of stuff people make up for sci-fi movies, not real life. And yet here we were, in that situation. Sigh.
